ERERA Chairman, Professor Honoré Bogler, has expressed delight over the introduction of an ECOWAS Staff Pension Fund, a scheme which he said will greatly benefit staff of ERERA.
Professor Bogler was speaking during the reception of the ECOWAS Commissioner for Administration and Conference, Mr. Stephen Nartey who was accompanied by Mrs. Obiageli Ray-Oleru of the ECOWAS Pensions Desk on Friday, 9th September 2016 in Accra, Ghana.
Commissioner Nartey announced that the ECOWAS Pension Fund is operational and that its Board is working to ensure dynamic and efficient management of retirees. He explained that the main objective of the mission to all ECOWAS institutions is to familiarize ECOWAS staff with the Pension Fund and its associated issues.
In his presentation, Commissioner Nartey stated that the ECOWAS Staff Regulations provide for the creation of the Staff Pensions Fund. He said that the ECOWAS Council of Ministers, in December 2011 decided to establish the scheme with effect from 1st January 2012, increase staff retirement age from 60 to 62 years, as well as set up a Board comprising Institutions, staff and retirees.
